But listen out for something a little bit more vibrant on this weekend's sleepy sunday show. 2 Scottish singer/songwriters - one from Edinburgh and one from Glasgow. 2 North American bands - one from Vancouver, Canada and one from the Bay area, USA. Mon, 26 September 2005 A quick additional show to the line-up showcasing bands not from Scotland. Now, before I get inundated with emails protesting, this will be a semi-regular show in addition to the 3 shows I already produce. The reason for this international show is that I get a lot of mp3 submissions from bands around the world. Admittedly my email address seems to be in some sort of bulk mailing list that bands or their managers are using to get music to music podcasters. And I don't, in essence, have a problem with that; most of these guys are producing music that should be getting heard by a much wider audience. That being said, I also get many submissions sent to me personally, with a personal note from the band or artist.But as I produce a Scottish music podcast, I tend to have a quick listen to the submitted tracks, then forget about them...which is a bit of a crime. Hence this new show. If you're a subscriber you may want to skip downloading it. It'll be clearly tagged as 'tpinternational' in your aggregator, so you should easily be able to differentiate between it and the regular tartanpodcasts. But I'd strongly urge you to give it a listen. As always the songs are handpicked by me and are tracks that I've personally enjoyed, hence I'm giving them the tartanpodcast endorsement ;-) Today you'll hear;

I'd love to see a real music loving community springing up where everyone can have their input. And the bands having listener reviews of their songs is something I know they appreciate. It means they can copy and paste your review into their site, or link directly to it.

EmailVote Archive Play today's show Great to be bringing you some music again! I'll also include details on how to get the video from PodcastCon UK, although I'm hugely embarrased by it. What podcaster enjoys seeing themself on video?
Sadly, no URL for these guys, but perfect for calming the nerves whatever the circumstances. The song is taken from Deep Peace, which was sent to me by the folks at Autoclave Records. Autoclave Records are situated in Beauly and I'm looking forward to dipping into their back catalogue and bring you more music from the label very soon.
Produced by Marcus Couch of the Scene Zine Podcast
To win a copy of Ally's great album 'Calling Out To You' email me your reasons for wanting it. Make sure the subject line is 'ally kerr' The video of my speech at PodcastCon UK can be downloaded here. It weighs in at 225Mb, which may put you off. Also, the audio is quiet at times. The entire event was recorded and will be released soon on mp3, but in the meantime this is the best I've got. If you want a copy of the audio itself - without the video - you can find it here. I hope me putting this up on the 'net isn't viewed as me being big headed. Believe me, I'm not at all comfortable with standing up there in front of a roomful of strangers talking about music podcasting, so I'm not 100% thrilled at the resultant speech! And I hate being video taped/photographed, so it's a bit of a personal nightmare. But a few people have expressed an interest in hearing what I had to say, and the questions from the floor were great, so perhaps it's of interest. ![]() Comments[23] |

Isa and the Filthy Tongues - Nae Tongues Eric & The Bunny Boilers - Heard You Say Thanks for all the great emails, guys. I really appreciate it. Let me know what you think about the sound quality! I discovered that there was an audible buzzing sound throughout, but I think that was because the mic cable was stradling the mixer's power supply. Novice. Why is the Isa and the Filthy Tongues track called 'Nae Tongues'? Emails to tartanpodcast@gmail.com Comments[11] |

Thu, 12 May 2005 I'm a stats freak/geek - it stems from my old job with Barclays Stockbrokers where part of my day was analyzing stats and producing reports on them...yeah. Riveting. Sat, 7 May 2005 I've been hunting the Internet for more music, preferably Scottish artists that I can play on the tartanpodcast. I could just go to purevolume.com and scour the pages, download mp3s of music that I like and that I think you guys would like, and then just play it on the tartanpodcast. But as a member of AMP I need to get the artist's permission first, and I'm cool with that. So far I've been refused permission once. (Which was silly of them, eh?) But what I've noticed over and over is that artists don't always put their contact details on their purevolume.com page. But no email or contact details!! If you're in a band or if you're a performer, please, make it simple, straightforward and obvious how to contact you. People want to hear your music. Electrum - Interferance Kasino - Never See Thanks to Paul Story for the audio comment sent from Croatia. I'm really sorry about the sound...!!again!!. I thought it'd been getting better, but my headset is broken, so you can hear it rattling about. It's hugely unprofessional, but hopefully the music will make up for it. Check back soon for the result of Band of the Month. Comments[8] |

Sat, 2 April 2005 Why do I have adverts down the side of the page ==> ? I'll explain... I've received emails telling me that after hearing songs played on the tartanpodcast people have purchased albums or singles of the featured artist.
That's really great news! If you click through my site and purchase said album, I may get a small percentage. You benefit by being able to easily purchase the music of artists you've enjoyed hearing on the tartanpodcast. The band benefit by selling their stuff!
And I benefit by getting a little hard-earned... Category: general -- posted at: 4:48 AM Comments[18] |

Thu, 31 March 2005 Jonathan (mentioned in tp#4) emailed me to say he has added the tartanpodcast to a list he's compiling of Scottish music podcasts. Here's the link! List of Scottish podcasts I think the other Scottish podcast he lists actually originates in North America, but it plays Scottish (Celtic) music. So fair enough. It seems the tartanpodcast is still the onlymusic podcast coming out of Scotland. Category: podcasts -- posted at: 4:34 PM Comments[15] |
